E-E-A-T

Google's shorthand for Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness and Trust: the signals that make content credible enough to rank.

In depth

What it really means

E-E-A-T is not a ranking factor you can toggle. It is the bundle of signals Google’s raters and systems use to judge whether content is credible: does the author have first-hand experience, real expertise, recognized authority, and is the site trustworthy overall.

It matters most for topics where bad advice can cost people, but the same signals help any content earn trust from both search engines and AI answer engines.

The first E, Experience, was added to reward first-hand knowledge, like a review written by someone who actually used the product.

Does E-E-A-T matter for every topic?

It matters everywhere, but most on your-money-or-your-life topics like health and finance, where credibility is critical.

How do I improve E-E-A-T?

Real authors with bios, first-hand experience, accurate facts, reputable citations, and earned mentions from trusted sites.

Does E-E-A-T affect AI answers?
